    Untitled - Laney Beaulieu

    Datsa – Laney Beaulieu

It’s named ‘Datsa’ which means Raven in Chipewyan, my native language. Today I was watching ‘Trickster,’ the awesome new show on CBC and was reminded of a story I heard when I was younger about how Datsa tried to steal the sun. Just like in the show, Datsa was a Trickster in this story and always effected great change with his antics.

Just like Datsa, ‘Trickster’ is effecting great change and, in my opinion, is signalling a new era of native representation in media where we control our own voices, images, and stories. All over NDN country we are standing against injustice and paving a way

towards a brighter future for all our relations. By following the call of Datsa, we will all be led towards change.
